Mechanical Workshop Operative Job Profile

Controlled Environments Company (CEC) is a single source supplier and solutions provider to customers operating in critically clean and controlled environments. We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Workshop Operative, to work at our Leixlip location. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the assembly and fabrication of mechanical components, systems, and machinery.
  • Use tools and machinery to manufacture parts and components.
  • Measure and check dimensions of parts to ensure accuracy and conformity to specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair faults or malfunctions in mechanical systems, ensuring timely and efficient repairs.
  • Conduct tests and inspections to identify mechanical issues.
  • Operate various mechanical equipment and machinery, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ensure that machines are properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Ensure all equipment is used according to safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when operating machinery or handling hazardous materials.
  • Assist in the management of parts and tools inventory.
  • Maintain accurate records of parts used, repairs completed, and equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Perform quality control checks on finished products or repairs.
  • Ensure that work is completed in line with specifications, and industry /client standards.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery such as Lathes, Milling Machines, CNC Routers.
  • Knowledge of mechanical principles.
  • Previous experience working in a mechanical workshop environment is advantageous.
  • Experience with CNC machinery, welding, or specialized mechanical systems
  • Experience with CAD/CAM is advantageous.
  • An apprenticeship or vocational qualification and or relevant experience in mechanical engineering or a related field is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills.
  • The role typically involves working in a workshop or factory environment.
