3D Print Technical Operative Job Profile
Controlled Environments Company (CEC) is a single source supplier and solutions provider to customers operating in critically clean and controlled environments. We are currently recruiting for a 3D Print Technical Operative, to work at our Leixlip location.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- 3D Printer Operation: Operate and monitor various types of 3D printers (FDM, SLA, SLS, etc.) for both rapid prototyping and production runs.
- Setup & Calibration: Prepare 3D printers by loading the correct materials, calibrating machines, and ensuring accurate setups to achieve optimal print results.
- Print Monitoring: Monitor print jobs to ensure they are progressing as expected, troubleshoot issues such as print failure, material jams, or misprints, and make necessary adjustments.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on printers and equipment, including cleaning, parts replacement, and troubleshooting to ensure minimal downtime. Support manufacturer maintenance and calibrations.
- Material Handling: Manage 3D printing materials, including ensuring the correct storage, inventory control, and timely ordering of supplies.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished parts for accuracy, resolution, and quality; perform post-processing tasks (e.g., supports removal, surface finishing).
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of print jobs, machine performance, and material usage. Generate reports on print quality, performance, and production timelines.
- Collaborative Support: Work closely with the design and engineering teams to provide feedback on design limitations, material properties, and improve printing processes.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow health and safety protocols when operating machines and handling materials.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience: Experience in 3D printing or related fields, preferably in a technical or production environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in operating and troubleshooting 3D printers and related equipment.
- Software Knowledge: Familiarity with 3D printing software (e.g., Cura, Simplify3D, PrusaSlicer, etc.) and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360) for file preparation.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure precision and high-quality results on printed parts.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving printing issues related to hardware, software, and material issues.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple print jobs, manage inventory, and maintain efficient workflow.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with design engineers, project managers, and other team members.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting issues and improvements to the management and technical teams.
Education:
- Relevant certifications or proven work experience in 3D printing, rapid prototyping, or additive manufacturing.
Additional Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with advanced 3D printing technologies (e.g., multi-material printing, metal 3D printing).
- Knowledge of post-processing techniques (e.g., sanding, painting, resin curing).
- Experience with the design for 3D printing (DFAM) principles and optimizing CAD files for additive manufacturing.
